Welcome to the Embarras Valley Film Festival (pronounced “Am-brah”) co-sponsored by the Coles County Arts Council and Eastern Illinois University’s College of Arts & Humanities. The EVFF (Embarras Valley Film Festival) is a yearly event that takes place the third week in September honoring a person or theme relevant to the Embarras Valley, which encompasses much of East Central Illinois. Please peruse this site for information about past and future events, biographies and other important information.

This year the EVFF is featuring James Jones, an author and screen writer from the area with ties to Eastern Illinois University. The event is slated to take place September 18-22 2007 on the campus of Eastern Illinois University, in downtown Charleston and at the Marshall Public Library. The events include a selection of free film viewings (in DVD format) at the Tarble Arts Center Atrium, a viewing of a documentary with a speaker, as well as an exhibit at EIU’s Booth Library and a conference on campus on September 21 and the morning of September 22, and free viewings of films (in 35mm print) at an all-day film festival on September 22 at the historic Will Rogers Theatre on the Square in Charleston. Please check the “Schedule of Events” page for detailed information.

The Marshall Public Library is also providing programming as part of the event that includes a tour of Jones’s home.
